He was seen on a viral video online assaulting Stephen Abuwatseya for asking to be paid for his service.

Stephen Abuwatseya was handed three slaps by the Member, HoR, Alex Ikwechegh for asking him to come outside to collect his parcel and to be paid.

Ikwechegh who took it to be an insult for the young man to ask him to come outside and take his parcel and pay him was so furious.

He questioned the young man for the audacity to ask him to come outside to collect the parcel. He said he will never pay him (the young man) any money. He melted words on the young man and said he is “stupid” and an “idiot”.

He said I can make you disappear in this country, and nothing will happen. I can put you in my generator house, and nothing will happen. If you like call the Inspector-General of Nigerian Police, (IGP) nothing will happen.

Hon. Ejike Ikezuagu while unveiling last Wednesday in London his Nigeria-registered Charity organisation, “Ejike Ikezuagu Foundation” to support victims of various forms of assaults in Nigeria, intimidation, and those suffering unfair treatment at workplaces across Nigeria said, “Law ensures a fair society, and everyone is responsible for their actions”. “Victims of wrongdoing can pursue justice through legal system, it keeps people safe”, he stated.

He praised the Inspector-General of Police and Nigerian Police Force for instituting charges against the law maker, Alex.

He said, “prosecution of highly placed personalities in Nigeria will underpin social functioning, it will strengthen open, fair and peaceful society where citizens and businesses can prosper”.

“Such action by police serves as a deterrent to others, increases trust from the citizens and improve relationship with the police”, he said.

Alex Ikwechegh who pleaded not guilty to the charges will appear in court for hearing on the 8th of November 2024.

He was granted bail on the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000) at the last court appearance at the Abuja Magistrate court.
