The Chieftains of “Igbo Council of Elders United Kingdom” (ICE) was last Friday written to the newly elected President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief John Azuka-Mbata to congratulate him on his new position as the President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

In the congratulatory letter as released by the group to the UK press, Ogene Ndigbo Newspaper gathered that Chief John Azuka-Mbata’s emergence to this paramount role as President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is not only a significant personal achievement, but also a beacon of hope and unity for the Igbo community, the group said.
In their letter, the group expressed their heartfelt message to Senator Mbata on his new position, saying his ascension to this esteemed position is a testament to his unwavering dedication, exception leadership and profound commitment to the advancement of Igbo people.
The group continued, saying, Chief John Mbata’s extensive experience and visionary outlook will undoubtedly guide Ohanaeze Ndigbo towards greater heights, fostering cohesion and driving impactful initiatives that will benefit Igbo people and preserve Igbo rich cultural heritage.

Expressing their confidence on the newly elected President-General, Chief Mbata, the group said, “As you embark on this new chapter, we are confident that your tenure will be marked by innovative ideas, inclusive leadership, and a renewed vigour to address the challenges facing the Igbo nation. Your ability to inspire and galvanize our people towards collective progress is truly commendable”.
According to the group, they said “We are confident that your leadership will foster peace and unity and make us stand as a unit for advancement of Igboland. Your leadership will build a strong tie among the Igbo people in the country and in diasporas to unite as a family, and look for home-grown solutions to our problems, because, if we fail to do it, no one will do it for us”.
“Please accept our best wishes as you undertake the responsibilities of your new role. May your leadership be characterized by success, resilience, and lasting contributions to the welfare and unity of the Igbo people”, the group said.
“Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved position. We look forward to witnessing the positive transformations that your leadership will bring, while assuring our wise counsel as at and when required”, the group concluded.
The Igbo Council of Elders UK (ICE) is a UK registered cultural organisation to preserve Igbo culture. The group will host IRI JI Ndigbo UK Festival 2025.
The letter was signed by ICE Chieftains, Hon. Ejike Ikezuagu, Nze Barr. Edward Obioha, and Chief John Ijioma for ICE UK.
