Chief (Dr) Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Okonkwo Ksc, OFR, affectionately known as “The Bishop,” personifies these qualities. As the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ekulo Group of Companies, his transformative work has earned him a place of honour among Nigeria’s most distinguished corporate icons.

On 21 May 2025, Anambra State-owned Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) joined the ranks of organisations celebrating Dr. Okonkwo’s indelible impact. The university conferred upon him the prestigious Ojukwu Legacy Award (OLA), a testament to his enduring contributions to humanity and society. This honour is a reflection of his life-changing initiatives and his role as a beacon of hope and possibility.
Dr. Okonkwo has long been recognised as a corporate luminary who raises the bar in Nigeria’s business landscape. Despite his penchant for leading a quiet and unassuming life, his profound impact cannot be concealed. His actions speak volumes, radiating across sectors and communities and leaving an indelible mark on society. It is these qualities that drew the attention of COOU, compelling the institution to acknowledge his extraordinary accomplishments.
