Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has cautioned health workers in the State against absconding for official duties for their private services,stating that the 5- point policy is to reform the health sector, improving healthcare services to the people and also the workforce.
Though the administration said they will not witch-hunt any worker, however they will not tolerate workers who are not always on seat during duty calls.
Commissioner for Health in the State Dr. Prosper- Ohayagha Success disclosed this during a familiarization tour to some State Government Agencies with newly appointed Special Advisers to the Governor Hon. Tina Anya,(Adviser on Nursing Services & HIV/AIDS),Hon. Ernest Nwaigbo,(Adviser Teaching Hospital), and Hon. Kennis Okolie,(Adviser Hospital Management Board), on Friday.
His first visit was at Imo State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS(Imo SACA) headed by Director General Dr. Charles Durueke,the Governor’s aide expressed disappointment with the state of the agency with infrastructural decay and limited facilities and workforce, as he charged the staff to be proactive in their duties so as to assist the administration in changing the report apathy of the agency.
Dr. Ohayagha who poured encomiums on the State Governor for the appointment of the advisers, told the management of Imo SACA to work closely and cooperate with Hon. Tina Anya to revive the agency, saying that the Imo Team for health is complete, and they share unity and sincerity of purpose in the discharge of their duties.
“Work in synergy with the Special Adviser on Nursing Service and Imo SACA Hon. Tina Anya, don’t use the time for work in government establishment to go to your own private hospital. Assist us in making this agency to be functional for the benefit of Imolites”. Imo Health boss stated.
In her brief submission Hon. Tina Anya emphasized that she will work in snergy to ensure that the moribund agency is revive adding that her appointment by the Governor is one that comes with a big challenge that must show positive result and she can’t afford to fail both the administration and Imolites who are expecting more improvement in the health sector.
The Director General of Imo SACA Dr. Charles Durueke thanked the team for their visit while appealing for them to work towards uplifting the standard of the agency stressing the staff of the agency is already putting in their best to ensure that the policy of the administration on health sector is achieved.
They also toured round the World Health Organization State office, and other health agencies.
